What Does a Trusted Keeper Actually Do?

You’ve Been Chosen for a Reason

Being named a Trusted Keeper is a sign of trust.

It means someone has chosen you to help ensure important information is available when it’s needed most. Depending on the situation, that could include documents, instructions, account information, personal wishes, or messages they’ve chosen to share.

Most importantly, being a Trusted Keeper doesn’t mean you need to do anything today.

It’s simply a role that helps create clarity and continuity if the need ever arises.

What Is a Trusted Keeper?

A Trusted Keeper is a person designated by a DoveLock member to receive access to specific information under circumstances they define.

Think of it as being a trusted point of contact for important information.

The member remains in control of their information and decides:

  • What information is shared
  • Who can access it
  • When access should be granted

What Am I Responsible For?

In most cases, your responsibility is simple:

  • Know that you’ve been selected
  • Keep your contact information current
  • Understand how to access information if needed

You are not expected to manage someone’s affairs, make decisions on their behalf, or take action unless circumstances require it.

If the time comes, your role is to help ensure important information can be located and used as intended.

What Access Do I Have?

Access depends entirely on what the DoveLock member has chosen to share.

You may eventually be granted access to:

  • Important documents
  • Account information
  • Instructions and preferences
  • Personal messages
  • Contact information

Not all Trusted Keepers will see the same information, and access may not be available immediately.

The member controls both the content and timing of access.

Why It Matters

One of the biggest challenges families face during emergencies, illness, or loss is not knowing where to find important information.

A Trusted Keeper helps bridge that gap.

By ensuring the right people can access the right information at the right time, families can spend less time searching and more time focusing on what matters most.

A Simple but Important Role

Being a Trusted Keeper isn’t about taking on a burden.

It’s about helping someone create a clear plan and knowing you’re there if you’re ever needed.

That’s why DoveLock created the Trusted Keeper role: to make it easier for important information to be shared thoughtfully, securely, and with the people a member trusts most.
